Today was THE day we had been waiting for… the day the curriculum (da, da, DUM!) arrives. And, it did. Minus one box, which just so happens to hold the majority of the curriculums. The one that holds a piece of math for Amanda, or a piece of history for Kaitlyn, or 90% of the readers and read alouds needed. Translation: school won’t be starting on Monday as planned. And, you know what? I’m ok with that, and as the girls play in their rooms (together, no fighting), I realize that they are probably ok with it, too.
How much fun can you have opening boxes? Well, loads. I cannot believe the quality of materials and books that so far we have received! And, bonus – we actually don’t have ANY of them, at least so far, anyway!
I am antsy to start, don’t get me wrong, but this time with my girls is so precious. I’m not constantly “with” them – I am still trying to get my work schedules pounded out – yet the bonding they are doing together is so important. They still spat, still tease, but I see a change… subtle… the emotional aggressiveness just isn’t there as much as it was. They are listening more, as I am.
So, for now, the books await their companions, and we continue to (re)learn the meaning and purpose of family.
