I abhor resolutions. To me, you are just setting yourself up for failure. So, instead, as a family, we have goals that we like to achieve. A goal is usually a smaller bite of the big finish you want to achieve. Resolutions mean that you are going to do something, no matter what. Which is great and all, but I like a little leeway, myself.
Anyway, our big goal this year is to make a dent in our financial situation. We have been debt free, money in the bank before, and we will be doing it again. It is tough. Tough to go through the budget and figure out what can go, what needs to stay. Let’s face it, we get into a certain lifestyle, and those things that once were wants, magically changed into needs. Funny how that happens.
Adding to the mix is paying for homeschooling. Obviously, the biggest *gulp* was the price tag on the actual curriculum, but don’t forget, we have to SOCIALIZE the little boogers, or they’ll be weird. We realized that we cannot sign up for every co-op, every activity. In fact, to date, we have signed up for… none. We will, eventually, but when its down to paying a bill, or socializing, I’m thinking the bill comes first, and we will figure out the activities. Which, we are. And, anyway, the girls socialize plenty – Polly Pocket, Barbie, and Jay Jay the airplane are their constant “friends”, LOL.
Tonight, it is Night at Roger’s Observatory! I’m so syched, and as long as Kaitlyn is feeling better, we will be wrapping our collective butts agains the 8 degree weather, and heading out to look at Venus, a Nebula, and whatever else. How cool! Maybe a stop at Mc Donalds for a dollar cone after.
Not sure how interested anyone will be about the budget stuff we are doing, but maybe I’ll start posting on that as well in the future.
