As mentioned before, though the girls are home this week, we haven’t been doing a really heavy schedule – mainly because the curriculum (Sonlight) has not been delivered (Fedex says Saturday).
Which is fine – I want the girls to get used to being home, me getting used to them being home, and slowly getting the room put together.
Funny story – I went to Office Max today to price out their chalk & dry erase boards. The minute I walked into the store, I was stalked by a “sales specialist”. Thanks, but I know what I’m looking for – by the way, do you offer a discount to teachers? Yes? Great! No, I don’t teach in Cadillac – I’m a homeschooler. Oh, I see, you don’t offer a discount to homeschoolers? Hmm… you sure? Alrighty then.
- 4×8 sheet of pressboard: $7
- Quart of Chalkboard paint: $10
- Look on the face of the associate when I told him I didn’t appreciate being discriminated against? Priceless.
So, in the long run, I win anyway because I’m saving about $75 by just doing it myself. Heh, heh. Jerk.
Here are additional pictures of the room coming together. Tabletop will be in place tomorrow – barring additional episodes of the nasty stomach bug to Mr. Day.
